I've been an artist as long as I can remember - at age 4, making chalk drawings on the sidewalk and creating water color masterpieces at a wooden crate work station that my dad set up in the backyard. In high school, I made cards by cutting up magazines, assembling collage covers and pasting together letters inside to spell out "Happy Birthday" in a very ransom-note sort of way.
In recent years, I have turned to the computer to learn web and graphic design. Colorful design and organized planning help make great web sites. Careful consideration is given to the purpose and goals of the site plus the needs of the users. Web design doesn't need to be a complicated process and I can prove it to you.
My paintings are inspired by my love of the natural world and the vast array of rich colors found in nature. Flowers, fruits, trees, rolling landscapes, skies, mushrooms, and even weeds. By juxtaposing different colors I strive to create vibrant and striking pieces that please the senses and the soul. My paintings are intended to be enjoyable to look at, just straightforward subject matter that is pleasurable to view.
In addition, I offer two lines of hand-crafted greeting cards to showcase my my love of nature and passion for color. Deliciously colorful photo cards inspired by the rich beauty of outdoor Wisconsin are the most recent addition to my creative endeavors. Hand-crafted paper "Art cards" describes the other greeting card line.
I live with my husband and son in Madison, WI. If you want to read more about Karen Aune Arts and the evolution of a business, check out my blog.
